Day VI: Villamayor de Monjardín -> Viana; 19.4mi.

Today was the most sunshine and the warmest weather we’ve had yet. It was an afternoon ice cream break and evidence of springtime everywhere kind of day. It was talking to people from two different countries going through similar life events I am and remembering the things that have carried us through .. and then talking about how terrible the ending of LOST was when we needed a break from talking about ourselves.
A new Irish friend went on a rant about this trail and the toll the first few days have on your body. It went a little something like this:
“.. knees are renowned for giving out, but my feet want to scream at my knees ‘you try getting blisters!’ and then my shoulders are up here saying ‘but neither of you have to support a 15kg backpack. He doesn’t even need half this stuff!! ..'”
The entire group we were walking with laughed because it was painfully (literally) relevant. I’m hurting in ways I never knew I could hurt and somehow feeling stronger every day.
Oh, and in case anyone was nervous, I squeaked out ahead ..
🎧:
“You must always know how long to stay and when to go.”
“I’m hurting in ways I never knew I could hurt and somehow feeling stronger every day.”
Beautiful, my dear. I am so warmed to hear of the people you are encountering and embracing. Love you Kate!!
